Child safety standards
These are PEITE’s (配特) standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). PEITE is made and run by Beans & Crystal, and these standards apply to the PEITE app, the peite.app website and related services (together, the “Service”).
1. The Service is for adults only
The Service is only for people aged 18 or older. The app asks for your birthday the first time it opens, and nobody under 18 can go any further. Our server checks again and refuses a birthday under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 is using the Service, we delete the account and its data. The age rule is also in section 2 of the Terms of Use and section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
2. What we prohibit
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Everywhere in the Service, the following are prohibited:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and any image, video or text that sexualises someone under 18, including drawn or AI-generated ones;
- approaching or luring a minor for a sexual purpose (grooming), or seeking a sexual or romantic relationship with a minor;
- threatening or blackmailing someone with intimate images (sextortion), or asking a minor for intimate images;
- trafficking children, or arranging, advertising or trading any sexual exploitation of a child.
These also break section 7 of the Terms of Use.
3. How to report
In the app, you can report from two places:
- in your Matches list, swipe the row to the left or press and hold it, then tap “Report / Block”;
- in a conversation, tap “⋯” at the top right, or press and hold a message or photo and tap “Report this message” or “Report this photo”.
Then pick a reason (for anything involving a child, pick “Inappropriate content”) and tap “Send report”. You can block the person at the same time, and they won’t know. If it involves a child, please also email support@peite.app and tell us what happened.
If you don’t use PEITE, or what happened isn’t in a conversation (for example, someone put a photo of a child on their card), email support@peite.app. Tell us what happened, where (the person’s name or their pet’s name), and when.
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police first: 110 in Taiwan, or your local emergency number.
4. What we do
- We read every report.
- When someone is reported by two people who have matched with them, their card stops being shown to anyone until we have looked at it.
- The words on every card are checked each night against a list of keywords. A card with words that advertise sexual services or ask people to get in touch outside the Service stops being shown until we have looked at it.
- When the app uploads a photo that other people can see, the photo is checked automatically first, and one judged to be adult or racy is not put up.
- When we confirm content or behaviour that sexually abuses or exploits a child, we remove the content and terminate the accounts involved.
5. The law
We comply with the child protection laws that apply to us, including Taiwan’s Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act (兒童及少年性剝削防制條例). When we confirm a case of child sexual exploitation, we report it to the police and cooperate with judicial and police investigations.
6. Contact
For questions or concerns about child safety, email support@peite.app. This is Beans & Crystal’s contact point for child safety, and you don’t need to use PEITE to write to it.
